Daddy-Daughter Dance

A couple of different places around here hold a daddy-daughter dance around Valentine's. This year John decided to take Netta to one at the local rec center. Netta was so excited! What girl doesn't want to get dressed up and spend time with her dad?
Before the dance, I had gotten an email saying that there would be a professional photographer. I figured John would pass on that because it would be way over priced, but really after being married to him this long I should have realized he is not as cheap as I am and that he would go for it. When he first told me he had gotten the picture I was so irked, but then he showed me it and who could pass on something so frickin cute?!

(And yes Netta came up with the leg lift all by herself. John didn't even realize she had done it until he saw the picture).

Meeting Noah

On January 10th my sister Katie gave birth to her first child, a boy name Noah. Since she is living in El Paso now, I knew that I had to go visit when she had him. I was able to go at the end of January. I was very excited to meet him and also very excited for a weekend away by myself. Of course the excitement level took a little dip when I talked to John after arriving in El Paso. The day I left John was supposed to come home early from work so I could catch my flight, but he was stuck at jury duty, so I had my friend watch the kids. He ended up being stuck a lot longer than we had thought so the kids stayed at my friend's pretty late. After an exhausting day, John finally picked up the kids and then while driving home he got REAR-ENDED! It didn't total the car, but it did enough damage that the car was in the shop for 2 weeks. And poor John had to deal with the cops and the insurance and all the jazz while all 3 kids were freaking out in the car. To make it even more fun for John, Netta hurt her arm so he had to take her to do the doctor the next day and deal with x-rays and blood work and all that fun stuff and then she was sent home with a sling and he had to try and keep her from using her arm. I just couldn't believe all this happened and I had just landed in El Paso! I really did enjoy my trip, but I would be lying if I didn't admit there was a part of me that felt guilty that I was away while John had to deal with all this craziness. Anyway, I had a blast spending time with Katie and Brad and getting to know Noah.
John and I took a knitting class in the fall and I was really excited to be able to make Noah a baby hat. I made the newborn size, but unfortunately his noggin was still a bit too small when I came out to visit.

Luckily, within about 2 weeks he had put on enough weight that the hat fit!

Oh Yeah January

January kind of flew by in a blur. Mainly because I spent most of the month trying not to throw up. You know what that means. Baby Brown #4 will be debuting around Aug 27! Even though this is the sickest I have ever felt with a pregnancy, we are really excited about it and feel greatly blessed. We did our darndest to try and have another May baby, but alas the stars did not align for us a 4th time. I have to admit I am a bit terrified to be pregnant through the summer in Texas. I have a feeling I will be staying indoors a lot and consuming copious amounts of popsicles. To prove that I did something during January besides laying around on the couch, here is a pic of our $.99 gingerbread house from Target. You gotta love that way after Christmas clearance!
