Poor Netta

It looks like a once a month blog post is about as good as it's gonna get around here. Perhaps it will improve at some point, but probably not till I have given birth and then had a couple of months to get the hang of having three kids. So yeah not for a while.
Anyway, about 3 weeks ago Netta managed to injure herself. Under her DAD'S supervision she managed to fall of the back of the couch and then proceeded to limp for the next couple of days. This was on Friday and by Monday morning, even though she didn't seem to be in any pain, she was still limping and we figured it was time to take her to the doctor. First, I actually called the Well at Dell nurse hot line and the nurse at the pediatricians office, just to make sure we needed to bring her in. I hate hate going to the doctor and being told there is nothing they can do for you, so I just wanted to be double sure that that wasn't going to happen this time. Luckily, John was able to meet us there so I didn't have to try and wrangle both kids by myself. After 2 rounds of xrays and lots of screaming on Netta's part, they couldn't figure out what was wrong and said we needed to see a pediatric orthopedist.
We made an appointment for the next day, but before the specialist would see us, Netta had to have some blood work done. I cannot tell you how scared I was of that. I hate getting blood drawn and it just seemed like such a nightmare when I thought about how Netta would react, but the nurses were great and she actually only cried for like a second, unlike during the xrays where she screamed and cried the whole time. After the blood work we were off to the specialist and let me tell you they are specialists for a reason. It took them about 2 seconds to figure out what was wrong with her and it turned out to be a hairline fracture in one of the bones in her foot. (The pediatrician had only ever focused in on her leg). So they told us she would need a cast for 3 weeks. Here she is modeling her new look. She picked out the hot pink all by herself and who can blame her?!
I wasn't sure how she would get around with it, but she ran right out of that doctor's office. They were very impressed. Nothing is going to slow this girl down.

We have just one week left. I am so grateful she only has to have it for 3 weeks. The little boot thing seems to be annoying her and she keeps trying to take it off, which means she falls on her face whenever she tries to walk without it. Also, I am kind of sick of her stepping on my bare toes with that thing. Man it hurts. (As a side note about the boot, the stupid thing cost $26 and it was the one thing not covered by my insurance. How frickin ridiculous). Anyway that is our latest adventure and luckily, despite her getting hurt, it is kind of cute.

Ouch!! The poor thing! At least she has a smile on her face, I think things like this affect the parents more than the kids!

Poor thing! Although sometimes these things seem harder for us parents to deal with than the kids. I totally know what you mean about hating to go to the doctor and being told that nothing's wrong.

Poor Netta! I love how kids can just bounce back from any injury!
