Of course we had a slew of Christmas activities to keep us busy this month. We got out the decorations and all of our Christmas books. John came downstairs one night to find EZ reading Christmas stories to all the kids. Seeing them together like this is the best.
EZ had a big Christmas party at his school. His grade sang songs for everyone and there was even Santa. Everyone was super excited to see Santa this year except for poor Conrad. We really have been torturing him this month with all these scary characters.
King's preschool has a Christmas program where all the kids sing for the parents. In true King fashion he refused to sit with his class and sing so instead he sat in the back with me and played with my keys. He loves going to preschool but for some reason he does not like when they have Chapel once a week and all the kids sit together and sing, so I should have known he would not have sat in the front of the gym and sang with all the kids this time. I don't know if it's the crowd or the noise, but it is not his thing.
My Grandpa Eckerson passed away a few years ago and one of the things we got from him is this awesome house the lights up and tells the story "Twas the Night Before Christmas." King and Conrad were obsessed with it and again anytime my kids play nice together I am so happy.
There was a TV show this year that had houses across America competing in a Christmas lights challenge, so of course when we found out that one of them was in Cedar Park, TX we had to check it out. We thought we could just drive by, but you had to get out and we weren't quite dressed for how cold it was, but that didn't seem to bother the kids. They loved it.
Finally, one night we drove through the Light Trail at Old Settler's Park. Last year when we went Netta fell asleep during it and this year it was King's turn. There wasn't even a long line, but it just takes a long time to get through. You drive really really slowly so we let Conrad come up front so he could look around. He was in heaven and it was quite the struggle to get him back in his seat at the end.
Some of this stuff may be cheesy, but I love it and I love how excited my kids get about it.
