So John and have back to back birthdays. His is on February 27th and mine is on the 28th. I like to have the kids help me make a cake for him. This year we decided to go with a "Better than Sex" cake. Basically a chocolate cake with sweetened condensed milk, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and toffee. Pretty awesome. We decided to send it with John to work so that I wouldn't end up eating it all. Here are King and Netta thoroughly enjoying the baking process.
I wanted to get a picture of them without the beaters in their faces and I made the mistake of telling them to look at my nose to get them to focus. So of course King grabbed his.
I have to admit that each year I feel a little cheated, because the kids and I make a cake for John, but because of the leftover cake, I don't get anything the next day. So not only did I send the cake with John so I wouldn't eat it all, but secretly I hoped it meant he would do something special for me. My plan worked and John surprised me with my favorite an ice cream cake!!! To make it even better my lovely sister Sarah, who knows me so well, also surprised me with an ice cream cake! So yeah I had to ice cream cakes, which were from two different places and two different flavors so it was awesome!!
Also this year with the help of some Christmas and birthday money, I have decided to take voice lessons. I have wanted to take them since high school. I decided to finally to it, because there is a man we know from Church who is a professional singer and even sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, who teaches lessons and is an amazing teacher. I just couldn't pass up the chance to learn from someone so talented and it has been fantastic. Because of my pregnancy, I won't be able to take lessons for as long as I might have liked, but I am learning a ton and hopefully maybe I can start up again sometime after the baby.
